Gretna East High School is excited to announce the appointment of Matt Fritsche as its new Activities Director. Fritsche joins Gretna East from Northwest High School in Grand Island, where he served as Activities Director from 2020 to 2024. With a dedicated career in school administration and coaching at various school levels, he has won three state championships and earned multiple Coach of the Year honors.

Fritsche’s extensive experience in athletics, administration, and community engagement provides student-athletes with a competitive and supportive environment. His leadership and passion for student development have contributed to numerous successful programs, including an NCAA tournament appearance at Hillsdale College and multiple postseason runs at Creighton University.

Chad Jepsen, Principal of Gretna East High School, said, “We are excited to welcome Matt Fritsche to Gretna East High School. Mr. Fritsche brings a wealth of experience as a successful coach and activities director.  We look forward to his insight and contributions, which will further enhance the positive culture and continued success at Gretna East.”

Matt Fritsche said, “My family and I are excited to join Gretna Public Schools. I am incredibly grateful for the last five years at Northwest High School, and am excited for the opportunity to learn and grow while serving Gretna Public Schools.”
